why i like it:
I had been using ACDSee for years, so I wanted something that had my favorite features from that, and was also a solid and free program.  The features I wanted to keep from ACDSee were: zooming with the +/- keys, view the next/previous viewable file in directory with scroll wheel, can delete an image while viewing it, shrink to fit on screen, support for loads of formats.  IrfanView has all of this, and loads more.  For how I use the program, it has even more functionality than ACDSee.
